We are still here.  Life is still churning and I have come to miss blogging.  I miss the documentation of life and the slant of light it offers to my days.  I miss the way it makes me cherish moments as capturable and to see them as lovely and real as they are.

Sorry for the silence…I have lots to say bit little time.  Between unpacking boxes and getting ready for all that Christmas brings, life has been busy!  We have found some time for cuddles by the fire and hot cocoa sipping.

I am hoping ~ No one is getting hurt in the polar bear den I mean kids room as I type.  They were safe two minutes ago and it sounds peaceful.

One of my favorite things ~ My delicious americano in the morning.  I only wish I could drink it with Aaron.

teething, sad baby awakens at 5, after waking many times before that.

big sister crawls in with mom, unsoothable baby and dad who is trying to catch a few more minutes of rest.

ahhh.  quiet.  drifting back to sleep.  shhh.  BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! drat.  all awake 6 am.

dad’s in the shower.  mom’s grumbling.  kids are chipper.  chipper?  yes, chipper and playfully dancing and flipping lights on as we journey into the kitchen for oatmeal.

no coffee roasted.  sorry honey. sorry all.

sun is up.  dad’s off to work.  breakfast is fast underway, the goldfish on the table entertain.

“ooops, sorry mommy”  full bowl of oaty seconds toppled onto the carpet, ricocheting off the wall then landing bottom up.  eew.  scoop, scrape, scrub.

regroup.  bowls are emptied and washed.  earl grey befriends me.  sit, sip, smile.

lap sitters collide and we read a few books.  children scamper off to become bunnies, shepherds and builders of kitchen chair animal pens.

and the morning presses on, mom ever sipping… thinking it was nice to see the sun rise.

Reading the Psalm this morning I was blessed by this….

O God, Thou art my God; early will I seek Thee. My soul thirsteth for Thee, my flesh longeth for Thee, in a dry and thirsty land where no water is, to see Thy power and Thy glory as I have seen Thee in the sanctuary.  Because Thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise Thee. Thus will I bless Thee while I live; I will lift up my hands in Thy name. My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness and my mouth shall praise Thee with joyful lips, when I remember Thee upon my bed, and meditate on Thee in the night watches. Because Thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of Thy wings will I rejoice. Psalm 63

A needed reminder of the reality of Living Water….where true satisfaction, protection and rest dwell.  I must keep watch.  I must walk in the lovingly outstretched shadow.  Rest is not in solidly built accounts, mortgages, precisely followed schedules, crossed-off lists, or in my plans whatsoever…not that those are bad in themselves.  It is so easy to get caught up in and put stock “life”, all the while, neglecting Life.  Thank you, Lord for this wonderful relief.

I really love having the menu planned and groceries purchased.  I keep my old menus stashed in a “file” (meaning smooshed into the paper organizer in the kitchen).  Someone said menus make it as though dinner “cooks itself”, I agree.  I wanted to share mine because I enjoyed reading someone else’s this morning.  Have a good monday!

Monday am ~ toast, scrambled eggs, oj

lunch  ~ chicken dinos, apple slices

dinner ~ roasted chicken, broccoli, rice pilaf

make cinnamon rolls

Tues am ~ cinnamon rolls

lunch ~ pb and j, yogurt smoothies

dinner ~ chinese chicken salad

prepare bread dough

Wed am ~ cereal

lunch ~ turkey sandwiches and pears

dinner ~ vegetable soup, no knead bread

Thurs am ~ cereal

lunch ~ leftover soup, toast or bread if any left

dinner ~ homemade mac n cheese, peas salad

Friday am ~ waffles (daddy’s home), oj, sausage?

lunch ~leftovers or sandwiches, fruit

dinner~wild rice pilaf wraps
