plight of a minivan mom

Granted I am fully aware that there are far more important issues in the world, but….

is it ok to throw ziplock bags of food at the child in the very back row?

is it ok to leave trader joe’s stickers on the windows?

is it ok to wash it quarterly?

and HOW does one remove crayon from upholstery and fossilized french fries from the seat mounts in the floor?

“is it ok to throw ziplock bags of food at the child in the very back row?”
–Sure! It gives the kids the feeling that they are at a sporting event.

“is it ok to leave trader joe’s stickers on the windows?”
–And next time you are at Trader Joe’s ask them for a discount because you have given them free advertising.

“is it ok to wash it quarterly?”
–Why so often? It rains enough in So Cal.

“and HOW does one remove crayon from upholstery and fossilized french fries from the seat mounts in the floor?”
–Crayons, not so sure about. But in regards to the fries… just go a couple of road trips without tossing snack bags into the back seat and the same ones who put the fries there will pry them loose.

Ha! Ha! The only thing I noticed in this post is TRADER JOES. I’m from Southern California and currently live in CO and dream of Trader Joe’s. Stick away. By the way, I love your blog and I love your heading picture! It’s so perfect.

Ha! Truly we are bosom cyber friends. I, myself am nursing a 9 month old- though not while I’m typing at the moment. You must read the first four chapters of ‘The Well-Trained Mind’ by Susan Wise Bauer (if you haven’t already). I would definitely get Math-U-See for math. They have the BEST Kindergarten math. Most K maths are just plain stupid, but not good ol’ Math-U-See. It’s excellent. I mostly just try to get the kids reading and doing simple math in Kindergarten. And LOTS of reading to them. Too many other things to do. I have used a curriculum called ‘K-12’ for all the kids in Kindergarten Phonics. Here, they offer it free. It’s an ‘on-line charter school’. They do it in CA too. I’m not really fond of the other subjects that they try to ‘make’ you take, but I like the Language Arts/Phonics. I usually just do that and dump the rest. As you read, I’m TOTALLY digging the Yesterday’s Classics stuff. Not quite sure what they have to offer for Kindergarten age kids, but I’m sure it’s good. Though, in Kindergarten, there’s not a ton that’s necessary. Where do you live?

What I find amusing is that your toddler fodder is actually in bags before it flies through the air. Think of the fun you could have with a bombardment of fishy crackers.

I used to get Trader Joe’s stickers stuck on the back of my shirt by a sneaky toddler. Then I’d forget about them, and continue on my errands about town…

Washing the van? The Scoutmaster (DH) takes it hither and yon at least once a month, so there’s no point in washing. In theory, I’m supposed to get it back clean, and get the upholstery occasionally shampooed. Maybe he and I should swap cars for a day.

Fossilized fries? Yep. But we’ve also got mystery mold somewhere in the carpet, no doubt from whenever my mocha last spilled. Either that, or it’s something the Boy Scouts left behind (ewwww).

I can’t stop giggling as I think of you barraging the back seat with ziplock bags of food! I definitely think it is a-ok, and you get extra points if you hit them in the nose, too. :)
